I'm Determined To Finish This.

It's been a long time, but I'm still determined to get this done.

I think I'm stuck with these colors until the end of the paper pack I'm working on, but that's OK. It's almost gone, and I'm almost done.

Still Going Strong.

I'm still (slowly but surely) making my way through this. I folded all of these in one night. It's not something I suggest, at least not without frequent breaks. I think that was my mistake. Anyway, here you go.

I actually worked from my pack of legit origami paper to make these. I want to finish the pack before I finish the 1,000.

Also, again, for the record, don't use foil paper unless it's for something really spectacular. I really, really don't like foil paper.

I Live!

It's been a long time since I last posted. Life sort of got in the way for awhile, there. As it is, I'm totally using this to procrastinate on another project. Anyway, I've had these around for some time, and I really needed to get them out of the way, so therefore you get a post.

More bus passes. Some people use them to cheat the system, I use them to make cranes.

These are the ridiculously tiny ones I made at work, plus one I made out of plastic. That was fun. I could fit all but one of them on the embroidery needle at the same time.

Hopefully, life won't get in the way so much from here on out. I mean, I only have 238 left to go (seriously, though, when did that happen?).

30 March 2011

I Knew I'd Eventually Get Around To Posting These.

I have sort of a backlog, here, that I need to post. I also have a backlog of TV to watch, so, hopefully, I'll knock that out this weekend as I knock out a few dozen more cranes.

I had a few old bus passes lying around. Just a few.

I ran out of the fun paper, so now I'm back to solid colors. A very odd collection of solid colors.

I also had some old lottery tickets lying around.

And now we're back to the solid colors.

I have some really, really tiny ones I folded at work that I need to string up and photograph. I need to find a smaller needle than the one I've been using to thread the rest of my cranes, though, because they're TINY, and I'm afraid the one I've been using will destroy them. We'll see.

09 February 2011

I'm Back!

I was distracted for a couple of months by NaNoWriMo, NaNoFiMo, and recovering from those two, so I didn't get around to any folding until February. I folded 30 the other day, though, and used up my dual-color paper. I'm back to solid colors, again. :'(

Getting Organized.

I decided to pull all my cranes down before I hung these up so I could organize them from first to last across my ceiling. I didn't even get through all of Urban Legend before I finished. I'll probably take pictures of that later (the cranes, not the movie), but, for now, I've got these for you.

I bought a bag of Tootsie Roll pops and got bored when I was eating one of them. A couple weeks and a whole bag later, I had a whole string.

I got stuck up front selling flu shots during work, one day, and I eventually got a chance to fold these in between greeting EVERYONE coming into the store.

I later got stuck at the front register and I decided to see how many cranes I could fold from a piece of legal pad paper. I could've folded more, but they would've been TINY, and I haven't gotten quite that skilled, yet.

I finally decided to finish off the first section of paper in my 250 some packet of actual origami paper. FINALLY.

I'm a bit excited, because the next section of paper is MULTICOLORED. I can't WAIT.

I Have A Slight Back-Log, Here.

I collected bus passes for a couple of weeks for this one. I couldn't bring myself to put any pink or purple ones in here, though, I apologize. I'll use those colors when they come in a pack of actual origami paper, but, when I have a choice, they're a no go.

I've named this one "a study in boredom". I got ditched at the front register at work, one night, and my coworker decided to take an extra long lunch, so, you know, this happened.

I think I'm finally through the bus pass phase. I think.

I finally got back into the 200+ piece pack of actual origami paper for these. I felt like I was neglecting the real stuff (and I wanted to see what damage I did to them that day I spilled a whole cup of water on my desk).

I feel like I'm getting into the home stretch, now that I'm almost to 600.

13 August 2010

I Thought I'd Posted These.

I uploaded these photos WEEKS ago, but then I apparently forgot to post them. I noticed this because I was about to post a bunch more (well, I guess I wouldn't really say "a bunch").

I made these from miniature Krackle bar wrappers, which are made of foil and really damn hard to fold. They're also a bit unfortunate because each wrapper is a slightly different shape. It's a miniscule difference, but, trust me, you notice when you're folding.

I made these from the remaining lotto tickets I had lying around. I really don't like throwing them out.

I also got tired of throwing out old bus passes, so I decided to make use of those in my folding. I've got a bunch more waiting, too. I intend to return to regular origami paper when I'm done with those, though, because I still have one completely unopened pack, as well as the rest of the 252 sheet pack I just opened.

23 June 2010

I'm Getting There.

I folded these a couple weeks ago, but I kept forgetting to post them. I have a bunch of new stuff, too, that I need to hang and then photograph. I've been working a lot with found paper, lately, so I have some very unique cranes floating around. .

I opened a brand new, 252 sheet pack of paper for these. I decided to just start from the top and work my way down, mostly because the top had some rad paper. It's got about 20 sheets of foil paper in there, too, which I haven't quite decided yet if I'm going to use, because foil is RIDICULOUS to fold. TRUST ME ON THIS.

I took some old lotto tickets, yet again, and made them into folding paper for these four. I have trouble throwing away my tickets, so I figure I may as well make some use of them. I have about five more waiting to be put to use.

Right. I'm off to do some laundry, now.

Getting Back Into The Fold.

I haven't posted any new cranes for close to a year, but I also haven't stopped folding. I'm determined to finish this. I just opened a new pack of origami paper, and I'm in the midst of a PSYCH marathon, so I figure I'll have some freshly folded cranes by tomorrow. For now, though, I'm going to leave you with some I folded not-so-recently.

I folded these from bits of coupon paper at work. I actually folded a few of these a LONG time ago, but I lost them somewhere in transit and then found them again when I was moving.

I folded these during Digital Detox Week, thus finishing off that last package of paper.

My goal is to finish by the end of this summer, because I'm considering moving again. We'll see.
