It's Been Awhile

I'm finally starting to make my new apartment into home.

I Said I'd Be Back.

I finally got around to photographing some of the stuff I've done in the past few months, so I figured I should probably post them before I get sidetracked.

I folded all of these at work, over the course of a couple months, out of coupon paper and anything else I could find within reach of the register. I had a lot more, but some got lost in transit, and the rest got lost waiting to be strung up. It's all good, though, because I still ended up with a decent number and got some good practice in to boot.

I'm beginning to think I'll never forget how to fold a crane for the rest of my life. It's like riding a bicycle.

More to come, soon, I hope.

Checking In.

I haven't posted for a bit, I know, but I am still folding. I've let other stuff get in the way of photographing and posting my progress, but I plan to buckle down again over the next few weeks. I want to finish this within a year of when I started, so I'm still doing OK, but I definitely need to get back my focus.

I originally started this because it's just something I've wanted to do for a long time. It's blossomed from there, of course, but I was thinking about where I started with this whole journey, the other day, and I was inspired to make a list of other things I'd like to do in my lifetime. It's only 19 items long, right now, but I hope to continue both adding and crossing stuff off this list as I go.

Now, I'm off to hang-up some more cranes.

I'm Alive.

I got kind of sidetracked by life for a bit, and then I got ill right around the time I was ready to get back into my groove. But, I'm back, now, and I come to you with a few new cranes to offer. I've now broken 400, which is a bit awesome.

I folded these two during work, one day, while standing at the front register, rather bored.

I did these yesterday while catching up on some of the TV shows I missed last week. I've got a bit over half of this pack of paper left to go before I move onto either the 252 sheet pack of 6" paper or the 200 sheet pack of 3" paper. I can't really decide which I want to torture myself with first.

I hope you all enjoy this historic week!

Long Time, No See.

It's been awhile. I got a new job and found myself unexpectedly busy for a week or so, there, but, I'm back now, and I plan to make full use of my time between work and blogging to fold, fold, fold. I lead a rather boring life, I know. Anyway, I do have some progress to offer in this post, so I guess I'll get onto that.

I folded the most recent batch out of my old lotto tickets, which I've been saving on my message board for some time. I have this sad little empty space up there, now, so I guess I'll just have to go start the collection all over again.

I'm toying with the idea of taking some paper to work, but I wouldn't get very far during my lunch break, so I don't know if it's really worth the effort. I suppose I'll figure that out along the way.

A Momentary Distraction.

I've currently shifted my attention to getting ready for the JOIN THE IMPACT protest this Saturday (Nov. 15) and looking for a job. I'm both trying to make the most brilliant sign ever and trying to remember just what I earned in every job I've ever held, so I'm quite understandably distracted. I fully intend to commence folding again when I get back from the protest this weekend, however, and I'm really hoping to have a job by next week (because, really, this is getting a bit ridiculous). I'll get back into my folding groove, eventually, I swear.

I'm Still Here.

I haven't updated (or folded) in a bit. I folded about 30 more shortly after I got home from Portland, but I forgot to post them. I kind of got caught up in the whole election fever thing (GO, OBAMA!). I made up for that by folding 50 more yesterday, though, and now I'm going to post all 80 for you. I'm now up to 349 cranes.

Eventually, I'll fold another odd number so I don't keep ending up one short of a round number each time. I have some old lotto tickets lying around that I'm considering using.

I'm Back.

I got back into town on Thursday night and I've been ridiculously busy since then. I didn't get a lot of folding done in Portland, but I did get 20 more done on the ride there, and I'm about to start working on the rest of this paper pack.

I don't have a job, yet, so I don't quite know what I'm going to do when I run out of the paper I have, but I don't have to worry about that for another 452 pieces of paper. I will hopefully have a job by then.

21 October 2008

Getting Out Of Town.

I folded another 18 on Sunday, putting my total up to 249, now.

I don't know how many more I'll get done over the next few day, however, as I suddenly find myself with a ticket to Portland for later this morning. I plan to fold some during the ride there, though I don't quite know how well that'll work out.

19 October 2008

Slacking Off.

I sort of slacked off a bit on the folding this weekend. I got 30 more done on Friday and haven't done anymore since, but, then I did get all my laundry and my grocery shopping done, so all is not lost.

Of course, I did say I'd post a picture of where I'm hanging all of these, so here's that.

I found a new source for origami paper, yesterday, and I think I'm going to hit them up today. It's mostly 3 inch paper, but it's really well priced and they have some fun colors.
